Why taking calcium may not fix your bones!

Why taking Calcium may not fix your bones.

Western methodology sees us using calcium supplements, drinking more milk and eating leafy greens in the hope of reversing or preventing Osteoporosis and increasing bone strength. Having adequate calcium available in our diets is good advice and should be incorporated into our lives, yet quite often the problem still seems to progress in a downward spiral regardless of our extra calcium intake.

Why can this this occur?

We have to look to the Kidneys and their function in regulating calcium levels in the blood. The ionized calcium is tightly regulated by hormones like parathyroid hormone (PTH), 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 (1,25(OH)2D3), calcitonin, and calcium itself. The kidney, intestine, and bone are the main target organs of these regulators, and the kidney plays a key role in the fine regulation of calcium excretion.

If our body is requiring more Calcium and can’t get it by other means, then it will start taking it from your bones.  When the kidneys are deficient and not functioning correctly then it’s like using a bucket with a hole in it, it doesn’t matter how much extra water you put in the bucket it will always be leaking out.

So the question is not, how much more water can we put in the bucket?  It should be, how can we fix the hole?

In our theory the Kidneys are in the Water element and are in charge of our bones. So we must take extra measures to counteract kidney deficiency such as good dietary choices and lifestyle habits that support the kidneys, Wing Chun Ling Tung Gong to move Qi & Blood and also have an adequate water intake.

So if your joints and bones are causing you some problems, maybe it’s time to come and find out what we can do to help your body find balance.
